Smith scores - no he doesn't - Moore scores - no he doesn't - Eden scores........
It didn't take the Classics long to get off the mark against Mission as they had the ball in the net in the first five minutes. The goal came from a perfectly placed right corner from Jim Eden who swung the ball out for an unmarked Chuck McGill who made no mistake with a well placed header. It was 2-0 five minutes later when Billy Ranger kept up his recent goalscoring spree after he turned quickly in the box and finished off a fine right wing move started by Eden. Doug Smith sent over a perfect centre from the wing and Ranger did the rest. It looked like a cruise from this stage on and that's how it stayed until half time.
The second half was controlled by the Classics although Garry Hackel had occasions to show why he is still needed when he pulled off some fine saves. The Classics defence was rarely under pressure although there was a minor scare when Mission pulled back the score to 2-1 with a great free kick which eluded the wall and Hackel. The clincher came in the 65th. minute when Eden fired in one of his rockets from 12 yards. The ball deflected off Smith and Dave Moore and it looked like all three scored with six arms up in the air celebrating but it was decided to award the goal to Eden as he deserved the credit.
